The Long View or Meadow represents a transitional zone between the arid dry upland zones (north and south of Main Trail) and the riparian or wetland zone which follows the stream paralleling the Main Trail to the pond.
Find: Horsetails (Equisetum spp.) which grew as big as trees in the Jurassic Era, Silverweed (Potentilla anserina), Yerba mansa/Lizard's tail (Anemopsis californica), Wild lettuce (Lactuca serriiola), and Sunflowers, annual and perennial (Helianthus annuus, petiolaris, nuttallii).
