Description This perennial is a native of southwestern United States. It has many woody vertical stalks. Its leaves are linear and rather rough. It replaces vegetation destroyed by over-grazing.
Mature Size 18” – 30”
Bloom June – October. The yellow flowers have no rays —only tubular disk flowers. Each head has many flowers, thus the species name pluriflora.
Interesting Facts When livestock eat it in large quantities it causes severe poisoning due to a toxicant. The ailment is called trembles. Its common name, Jimmyweed, refers to those trembles or jimmies.
