Description This native biennial or short-lived perennial reproduces by seed. The leaves, which are 1"-3" long and have saw-toothed margins, have a piney scent. The involucre is covered with curved bracts which secrete a sticky substance.
Mature Size 1'-2' tall
Bloom July-September. The bright yellow, waxy flowers are 1" across.
Interesting Facts This plant is highly drought resistant.
Traditional and Medicinal Uses The Curlycup gumweed is a poison ivy remedy. It has also been used as a treatment for asthma, bronchitis and colic.
