Description An erect annual, with several ascending stems, often branched near mid-stem and densely short pubescent. Alternate leaves are mostly linear except the basal leaves are more oblong.
Mature Size 18 inches or longer
Bloom April-September. The flowers are about 1 inch wide. The white, pink and/or lavender flower heads have numerous slender rays in several layers around yellow centers. Occasionally it may lack rays and have only yellow disk flowers.
Interesting Facts Grows in open sandy areas in deserts, plains, valleys and foothills.
Traditional and Medicinal Uses This unglamorous name comes from the traditional use of some species to repel fleas.
