Sunday:

Arrive in Seattle by own transportation arrangements. Meet at Hotel Monaco for welcome and orientation.

Monday:

Bellevue Botanical Garden
The Bellevue Botanical Garden includes 53 acres of display gardens, woodlands, meadows and wetlands. Highlights include the Northwest Perennial Alliance Border, Waterwise Garden, Yao Garden, Alpine Rock Garden and summer displays of dahlias and fuchsias.

Stocked with an amazing variety of perennials, shrubs, and trees, interesting display areas, reading room and library.

Tuesday:

Kubota Garden
The Kubota Garden is a stunning 20 acre landscape that blends Japanese garden concepts with native Northwest plants. Master landscaper Fujitaro Kubota was a horticultural pioneer when he began merging Japanese design techniques with North American materials in his display garden in 1927. The Gardens are a spectacular setting of hills and valleys, interlaced with streams, waterfalls, ponds, bridges, and rock outcroppings with a rich array of plant material.

Bradner Gardens Park
Winding paths connect the many features of Bradner Gardens Park. Seven ornamental theme gardens of the Master Gardener border: butterfly and hummingbird, fragrance, sensory, shade, xeriscape, winter interest and northwest native. Seattle Tilth and Urban Food demonstration gardens. More than 50 varieties of ornamental street trees recommended for small spaces and under utility lines. Bradner is a pesticide-free park that uses sustainable gardening practices.

Katie Black's Garden
This historic landscape was originally created for Katie Black, an early Seattle settler. Landscaped as a Japanese stroll garden in 1914 this site is home to the last of many important specimen trees on North Beacon Hill, multiple bird species, and small wildlife. Katie Black's Garden is a small corner of the once-extensive Black family estate located on the North tip of Beacon Hill overlooking Seattle

Wednesday:

Washington Park Arboretum
The Washington Park Arboretum was designed by James Dawson of the Olmsted Brothers firm, and was developed in the 1930s with WPA funds and labor. Collections include rhododendron, azalea, mountain ash, pine, spruce cedar, fir, crabapple, holly, magnolia, camellia, and Japanese maple. The Arboretum Shop is the place to find garden ornaments, gifts for the home, delightful children's items, a fine selection of gardening and nature books, garden journals and one-of-a-kind pressed flower bookmarks and cards.

Lunch - Café Flora - a neighborhood restaurant with a menu featuring fresh seasonal ingredients

Volunteer Park Conservatory
Docent led 60 minute tour, including information on Conservatory plant collections, architectural history, plant acquisition and production, and behind-the-scenes news. The Five Houses of the Conservatory Bromeliad House, Palm House, Fern House, Seasonal Display House, and the Cactus House

Elisabeth Carey Miller Botanical Garden - Private Tour
The Elisabeth Carey Miller Botanical Garden – was the private home and garden of Elisabeth and Pendleton Miller. The garden is known for its exceptional collection of fine trees and shrubs in addition to an expansive collection of woodland herbaceous perennials. The site is located on a bluff above Puget Sound commanding spectacular views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula, and offering unique microclimates for growing plants. There are over 4,000 taxa, or different kinds of plants, in the three acres of this uniquely landscaped garden.

Thursday:

Thornton Creek Park
Before Thornton Creek Alliance started working on this site in 1992, the entire site was covered in blackberry bushes. Native trees and shrubs planted in 1992 are now mature and filling in the park to make a natural habitat for birds.

Elements of a Chinese Garden

Carolyn Davis Private Home Chinese Garden - Private Tour
This is a traditional Chinese garden based on ancient Chinese gardening principles. Five beautiful acres provide an evocative setting of pavilions, ponds and flowers. Trails meander through a peaceful landscape of rocks and flowers towards the jewellike koi pond.

Seattle Chinese Garden - Private Tour
The 4.6-acre Seattle Chinese Garden will be one of the largest Chinese gardens outside of China, showcasing not only plants, but also stone, architecture and water elements that are customary to Chinese gardens.

Friday:

Bainbridge in Bloom - Private PreviewTour
We'll take the ferry to Bainbridge Island for a preview tour of the five gardens that will be part of Saturday and Sunday's Bainbridge in Bloom garden tour. Gardening is serious business on Bainbridge Island and these gardens represent some of the best on the island. Be prepared for green envy.
