As we approach the date to break ground for the second phase of the Botanical Garden at Museum Hill, the outlines of the design and construction plan are becoming (literally) visible at the end of the Kearny’s Gap Bridge.  Our Phase Two site was cleared over the fall and winter, and the recovered plants materials were put to great use.  Students from the Institute of American Indian Arts and the Santa Fe University of Art and Design created site-specific sculptures made from Phase Two plant materials, in a creative collaboration between the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and the two colleges called Morphing Nature.

In March, as the snow retreated, our crew chalked the site, demarcating the hardscape features and planting areas of our new Garden.  Our excited staff walked the grounds to view the layout of Phase Two – Ojos y Manos – Eyes and Hands, marveling over the beauty of the curvilinear design and the stunning views from the site.  Although for gate to Phase Two is closed for safety reasons, we are happy to show off the site!  Please contact our staff at 505-471-9103 to schedule a personal tour and see firsthand how the new Garden is taking shape and how you can be involved.
