TAOS GARDEN AND HOME TOUR Los Jardineros Garden Club of Taos holds its annual garden and home tour on Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located a few blocks from the plaza, a nineteenth century schoolhouse turned residence is surrounded by lush gardens and towering old trees. The owners have imparted their personal style with some pieces brought from a home in Texas while much of the artwork has been purchased locally. A contemporary home stands on the pinon and juniper studded hills above Arroyo Hondo. It is surrounded by xeriscape gardens making maximum use of available water. Herbs and edible flowers are just some of the featured plants. Nestled in the wide-open spaces near the Rio Grande Gorge is a solar home that extends the earthship concept to an aesthetic high. It is surrounded by sumptuous gardens designed and installed by the owners and using many “pass along” plants. Terra Nova’s gardens feature many native and medicinal plants, beautiful stonework, and delightful art accents. The home is traditional Taos with Pacific Rim accents. Water harvesting systems and a greenhouse are added features of the garden. Tickets (includes carpool, lunch, tour ticket) are available from the SFBG office (505 428 1684). Members @ $50 and Non-Members @ $55
