The Orchard stone wall & the art of hand-chiseled masonry

Tuesday, August 7, morning.

New Mexico Stone is the company working on carefully building the Orchard wall using the traditional hand-chiseled masonry on native New Mexican stone. This wall will entirely surround the orchard and is the heart of the Orchard Gardens of Santa Fe Botanical Garden at Museum Hill. This week our Landscape Architect, W. Gary Smith, is in Santa Fe to see precisely how the meticulous work of the stonemasons creates art in stone. Photos by Annie Corbitt.
